Cop Applauded For Stopping to Fix Kid’s Bike
A Bridgeport, Connecticut cop is getting a lot of attention for stopping his cruiser to help a young child fix his bicycle.
On Saturday, April 11, Officer Cody Remy was on patrol in Trumbull Gardens, an apartment complex in the state’s largest city. While on duty he stopped to help a child who needed help fixing his broken bike. Unbeknownst to Remy, a resident of the complex noticed his act of kindness, and took a picture.
On Sunday, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch applauded Officer Remy for his efforts to help a child in need in the community.
“Bridgeport police officers help protect our community day in and day out,” said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch. “They help make our neighborhoods safer and more secure for kids and families, ensuring our city continues getting better every day.”
While Officer Remy didn’t think what he was doing was a big deal, Mayor Finch disagreed.
“Officer Remy’s act of helping out a child in need in our community is a great example. He doesn’t think he did anything extraordinary. But I disagree. The picture speaks for itself. And, I’ll leave it up to others in our community and beyond to decide for themselves.”
To police critics claim the incident was a reminder of the NYPD officer Lawrence DePrimo who made news in 2012 when he was pictured buying and giving shoes to a homeless man, however later it was revealed that the interaction and picture were likely staged by DePrimo for unknown reasons.
