Tennessee Cop Buys Drugs, Gets Paid Administrative Leave
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was arrested after investigators say he bought illegal narcotics while on duty.
Trooper Mark Williams was arrested Friday by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Drug Investigation Division after they say he purchased hydrocodone from another man, Elliott Goode, on June 19. Investigators say Williams was in uniform and on duty when he bought the drugs.
Williams has been charged with delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, and possession of a weapon during a dangerous felony, and is currently behind bars at the Lauderdale County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000.
Police say Williams has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.
