New Jersey Cop Arrested for Tampering With Public Records and Criminal Conspiracy
ASBURY PARK, N.J. — A police officer has been arrested and charged with official falsifying and tampering with public records, conspiracy, and official misconduct, according to Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office documents.
Alix Antoine, 36, employed with the Ashbury Park police since 2002, was arrested Monday and is currently behind bars with a stiff $150,000 bail.
Antoine was previously involved in a lawsuit when in 2008 he struck a bicyclist with his police vehicle, causing serious injury requiring years of chiropractic treatment, public records show. The plaintiff, Israel Young, said Antoine sped toward him without his lights or siren activated and struck him with his patrol car. Antoine said he didn’t see Young because his lights were not on, and because there were no other eyewitnesses to say otherwise, a jury ruled in Antoine’s favor.
