Texas Cop Arrested for Holding Knife Against Child’s Throat, Threatening to Kill for Being Too Noisy

SAN ANTONIO — After 9 months of investigation by internal affairs, a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office detention deputy has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a child with a deadly weapon.
Deputy Ronald Bailey, 39, surrendered himself to police on Thursday after being indicted by a Bexar County grand jury for aggravated assault following a September 2014 incident.
According to a police report, Bailey was supervising three children during a scheduled weekend visitation. The children reported an incident to another one of their caregivers, where they say Bailey grabbed a kitchen knife and held it against the throat of one of the children who he believed was being too noisy. Bailey then threatened the child by saying he would slit the child’s throat if the child wasn’t quiet, addressed the other children and said “Who’s next?”
According to Texas law, Assault is considered ‘aggravated’ when a deadly weapon is involved. Except for some cases where the victim is a family member or police officer, aggravated assault is usually considered a second-degree felony, which carries a sentence between 2 and 20 years in prison, and up to a $10,000 fine.
Bailey has been placed on paid administrative leave pending further results of the investigation. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 14.
